Local Farm Bucks the Trend

Skip Connett is a local farmer in east Austin. With the help of his wife, children, and two full-time hired help, Connett grows vegetables and raises and sells animals such as pigs, goats, and chickens. Volunteers from Community Supported Agriculture also lend a hand in return for organic groceries.  The farm is unable to afford to pay full time volunteers, and “we usually have more vegetables than money,” says Connett. The recent economic recession has moderately disrupted farm sales due to people spending less money on food. However, Green Gate Farms has had a large demand from local Austinites whom Skip says are very conscious about the food they eat and are turned off from industrialized farming.

Echelon plane crash

On Thursday morning around 10:00 am Joseph Andrew Stack III deliberately and intentionally flew his personal airplane into the Echelon building at the 9400 block of Reserach Blvd. in Austin.  At this time the attack appears to be based on Stack’s ire with the Internal Revenue Service.  Around the same time Stack set his Georgetown home on fire.  A suicide note written by Stack was posted on www.embeddedart.com

First February fortnight

Things that have happened recently.

Watched the sky turn red and fixed shingles.

Went to Dallas to get fancy new super teeth.

Drove back to Austin.

Witnessed an elderly Mardi Gras celebration.

Photographed nice people for portraits.
